1% for the Planet links businesses and individuals pledging 1% of their annual sales to nonprofits focused on conservation, sustainability, and ecosystem protection. By joining this global network, Wildlife.ai gains access to a broad range of business partners who share its mission to support biodiversity conservation and empower communities.
Committed to accelerating wildlife conservation through AI and machine learning, Wildlife.ai supports researchers globally by delivering precise data on species populations, health, and habitat conditions. Among Wildlife.ai’s key projects is the development of pattern recognition software to identify Archey’s frogs, a critically endangered species in New Zealand, based on their unique skin patterns. This labour-intensive process currently requires trained observers and high-quality photos. The new software simplifies image processing, speeding up identification and improving conservation management.

1% for the Planet is a global organisation that connects dollars and doers to accelerate smart environmental giving. Through business and individual memberships, 1% for the Planet inspires people to support environmental organisations through annual membership and everyday actions. The organisation advises on giving strategies, certifies donations, and amplifies the impact of its network.
Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, their members have given more than $655 million to environmental nonprofits to date. Today, 1% for the Planet is a network of more than 5,200 business members, more than 7,000 environmental partners, an expanding core of individual members, and thousands of nonprofit partners in more than 110 countries.
